The wine was bottle aged for a further twelve months before release. The balance went to one-year-old (40%) and two-year-old (12%) Bordeaux barriques (for the same period). Forty-eight percent of the wine was matured in new Bordeaux oak barriques for fourteen months. It was cold soaked in a small fermenter for two weeks with minimum pump overs before undergoing an extended and gentle maceration lasting for six weeks. The wine is 97% cabernet sauvignon (Houghton clones) and 3% Malbec, the fruit picked and sorted in April 2017. This wine will only be made in exceptional vintages.Ģ017 was one of the more cooler vintages in a number of years for the southern sub-regions of the Great Southern although Frankland River still delivered great conditions for the later ripening varietals such as Cabernet Sauvignon. The Philip Adrian is Singlefile’s flagship red wine where every measure is taken to ensure only the best fruit and barrels are selected. The Riversdale vineyard, planted in 1997 on deep gravel over clay soils, on a north-south orientation, is located 7kms north west of the Frankland River township. The continental cool climate sub-region of Frankland River sits within the north west corner of the Great Southern wine region (its latitude 34☃9’S).
